The new facility, located at 4639 72 Ave SE, Calgary, Alberta T2C 4H7, significantly expands Dot’s Canadian footprint. The company relocated from its previous site in Calgary, tripling its warehouse capacity to meet growing customer demand across western Canada. Dot invested approximately $2 million to retrofit the 284,212 square foot building. The new Dot Foods Calgary distribution center includes dry, refrigerated, and frozen storage, expanded dock space and office areas, and upgraded break room facilities for employees.

Dot currently employs more than 40 people at its Calgary location. The expansion is expected to create 35 new jobs in warehousing, truck driving, and administration over the next three years. Dot Foods Canada launched operations in 2016 through the acquisition of Canadian redistributor Marketwest and initially operated facilities in Calgary and Brampton, Ontario. In 2023, the company built a 168,875-square-foot distribution center in Ingersoll and closed operations at its leased Brampton location.

“We see so much potential in the Canadian market,” said George Eversman, president of Dot Foods. “That’s why we continue to invest in larger facilities. The new Calgary distribution center gives us the space and infrastructure to continue to grow and to operate more efficiently and better serve our customers in Western Canada. It also reflects our long-term commitment to the Calgary area, investing in the region and creating jobs.”

“We’ve built a really talented Calgary team that has done an incredible job of driving a lot of growth in the last nine years,” explained Joe Litte, Dot’s Canada regional general manager. “At our heart, we are problem solvers at Dot. Now we have the space we need to take on more volume and solve more problems for our customers and suppliers. We will continue to build our team to support this growth, and it’s exciting to be at this point in our journey.”

As part of the grand opening celebration, Dot Foods Canada announced a $25,000 total charitable donation to be shared among five local nonprofit organizations:

  • $5,000 to Roots 2 STEM

  • $5,000 to Hope Mission

  • $5,000 to Calgary United Way

  • $5,000 to Calgary Police Youth

  • $5,000 to Alzheimer Calgary

“We’re always proud to support local organizations through grants, volunteer efforts, and other forms of giving,” Eversman said. “Community partnership has been a cornerstone of how we operate since day one, and that commitment continues here in Calgary.”

Each of Dot’s locations has an employee-led charitable committee that approves grants and coordinates volunteer opportunities for employees within the company’s five charitable areas of intent. Giving back to the community was a passion of Dot Foods co-founders Robert (RT) and Dorothy Tracy and continues to be a major focus for the company and its employees today. The recipient groups were selected for their close alignment with the company’s charitable areas of focus.

Dot Foods Canada currently offers 3,300 products to more than 340 Canadian distribution points, partnering with more than 100 suppliers to deliver both Canadian and American products in less-than-truckload quantities. Customers can order as little as one case across a wide product mix, improving efficiency and flexibility for distributors.
