As we recently shared in our 2020 charitable report, our five charitable focus areas are:
Community Development and Engagement
Inclusion and Diversity
Education
Health and Wellness
Public Safety
One way we are able to contribute to all five of these areas is through our ongoing partnership with the United Way, which fights for the health and wellbeing of every person in every community. Through our annual United Way fundraising campaign, we encourage employees to donate to their local chapters, and we match these donations 50 cents to the dollar.
Since 2000, Dot Foods has donated over $4.8 million to United Way chapters near our U.S. locations. This year’s United Way fundraising campaign is taking place now through October 31 at our Mt. Sterling, St. Louis, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Arizona locations. Fundraising campaigns at our Idaho and California locations end October 26.
Employees often see the direct impact of their donation in their own communities. “The local organizations that receive support from United Way are often organizations that our employees are involved in,” says Samantha Morrow, the head of Dot’s United Way committee.
With the pandemic still ongoing, it’s more important than ever to support the United Way. They’ve raised over $1 billion for COVID-19 response and recovery efforts and helped provide food to rural areas. Through their 211 hotline, they’ve been able to offer urgent support to individuals.
Even in 2020, our employees showed up to support the United Way. “If the last two years have taught us anything, it’s that Dot employees show up even in the toughest of times,” says Morrow. “Dot has had a strong partnership with our local United Way chapters over the years, and our employees continue to show that we are better together.”
Thank you to our local United Way chapters for caring for our communities and championing causes near and dear to Dot’s values. Dot Foods employees can reach out to their HR managers to learn how to donate.
