WILLIAMSPORT, Md.— Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistributor in North America, today opened a new facility designed to give employees convenient access to high-quality, low-cost healthcare at its Williamsport distribution center.
The new Dot Foods Family Health Center is located at 16305 Elliott Parkway, Williamsport, MD 21795, on the campus of the company’s Maryland distribution center. Services at the new facility are available to all employees covered by the Dot health plan and their dependent family members.
“We want our employees and their loved ones to have healthy, fulfilled lives,” explained Mandi Clark, Dot’s vice president of human resources. “We’re a family business. And from day one, our co-founders Robert and Dorothy Tracy made it a point to treat their employees like family. Our best-in-class benefits package is one of the ways we do that. We added our first onsite healthcare facility in 2013 at our Georgia distribution center, and over the last decade we’ve seen the positive impact these facilities have on our employees and their families. We’re excited to be opening our ninth clinic here at our Williamsport location today.”
The Maryland distribution center employs the largest number of people outside of Dot’s headquarters in Mt. Sterling, Illinois. The new Family Health Center serves approximately 600 people: employees, their spouses, and dependent children age 2 and over enrolled in Dot’s medical insurance. Premise Health, the world’s leading direct healthcare provider, operates the Family Health Center which includes two exam rooms, a lab, and office space. The over 1,700 square-foot facility offers a wide variety of healthcare services including preventative screenings, condition management, and education for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, and more. Employees can use the Family Health Center as their primary care provider; annual physicals, wellness screenings, CDL certification, lab work, flu vaccines, and generic prescriptions are offered at little or no cost to employees.
“We are not healthcare experts at Dot, so we partner with those who are to make sure our Family Health Centers are providing the best quality care for our people,” Clark explained. “Premise Health has been a trusted partner at several other Dot Family Health Center locations and their emphasis on personalized care makes such a difference for our team. Many standard services are free when employees visit the Family Health Center, and if there is a cost, it’s usually very low. Employees are able to use money from their health savings account or payroll deduction to cover the bill.”
The Dot Foods Family Health Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Williamsport clinic began seeing patients last week.
“Our employees are excited to have this resource literally right out our front door,” said Brian Duffield, general manager of the Williamsport distribution center. “It can be hard to find time to get to the doctor, especially when you work non-traditional hours like most of our employees do. Having the Family Health Center available means our employees don’t have to plan a separate trip to the doctor. They can take care of it when they come to work, and often save some money in the process.”
This facility is the ninth Dot on/nearsite health center. The company debuted the concept at its Georgia distribution center in 2013 and has since added Family Health Centers at the company’s locations in Idaho, Indiana, Oklahoma, California, Arizona, and Dyersburg, Tennessee, locations, along with its Mt. Sterling headquarters. Dot plans to establish clinics at all its U.S. locations by 2025.
