DYERSBURG, Tenn.— Dot Foods, the largest food industry redistributor in North America, today opened a new facility designed to give employees convenient access to high-quality, low-cost healthcare at its Dyersburg distribution center.
The new Dot Foods Family Health Center is located at 2045 St. John Ave., less than a mile from the company’s Dyersburg distribution center. Services at the new facility are available to all employees covered by Dot’s health plan and their dependent family members.
“Taking care of our employees and their loved ones is among the most important work we do,” explained Matt Holt, Dot’s vice president of human resources. “We’re a family business. And from day one, our co-founders Robert and Dorothy Tracy wanted to treat their employees like family. Our best-in-class benefits package is one of the ways we do that. We added our first on-site/near-site healthcare facility in 2013 at our Georgia distribution center, and we’re so happy to be opening our seventh clinic here at our Dyersburg location.”
The new Family Health Center serves approximately 500 people: employees, their spouses and dependent children enrolled in Dot’s medical insurance. Premise Health, the world’s leading direct healthcare provider, operates the Family Health Center, which includes two exam rooms, a lab, and office space. The 2,000 square-foot facility offers a wide variety of healthcare services including preventative screenings, condition management, and education for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, and more. Employees can use the Family Health Center as their primary care provider; annual physicals, wellness screenings, CDL certification, lab work, flu vaccines, and generic prescriptions are offered at little or no cost to employees.
“There’s not much that’s more important than your health and well-being.” Holt said. “Dot’s goal with these family health center facilities is to support our employees and their loved ones on their health journey by removing some of the barriers that can make it hard to get the care you need. We’re providing access to high-quality, personalized, affordable healthcare services. Many standard services are free when employees visit the Family Health Center, and if there is a cost, it’s usually very low. Employees are able to use money from their health savings account or payroll deduction to cover the bill.”
The Dot Foods Family Health Center is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The clinic began seeing patients a few weeks ago, and employees are happy to have it available.
“The opening of our Family Health Center is great news for our team,” said Matt Duggan, general manager of the Dyersburg distribution center. “We’ve been working on this project for more than a year, so it’s wonderful to finally have it up and running. We’re all very grateful to be the latest Dot location to get a Family Health Center. The services offered and the relationships our providers establish with our employees really set a new standard of care.”
This facility is the seventh Dot on/near-site health center. The debuted the concept at its Georgia distribution center in 2013 and has since added Family Health Centers at the company’s Idaho, Indiana, California, and Oklahoma locations, along with its Mt. Sterling headquarters. Dot plans to establish similar clinics at all its U.S. locations in the next two years and will open a second Family Health Center in Tennessee with the grand opening of its new location in Manchester in late 2023.
