BULLHEAD CITY, Ariz.— Dot Foods, Inc., the nation's largest food industry redistributor, and Dot Transportation, Inc., Dot Foods' affiliate trucking partner, are celebrating the fifth anniversary of its Arizona distribution center in Bullhead City. To mark the milestone anniversary, the company opened a near-site Family Health Center Friday for all employees and any family members covered on Dot’s medical plan. Employees and families also gathered at the distribution center for an anniversary party.
Over the last five years, Dot Foods Arizona experienced significant growth. Since opening in 2018, the facility has increased its workforce from just over 100 employees to now more than 300, including warehouse employees, administrative workers, and truck drivers. Fifty-five of those employees have been there since the facility opened. This year, the Dot Foods Arizona team estimates it will move nearly 333,809,257 million pounds of product through its warehouse. In the last five years, payroll totaled more than $70 million, contributing significantly to the local economy.
"Time flies when you’re having fun, and that perfectly sums up these last five years in Bullhead City,” said Adam Rodriguez, Dot Foods Arizona’s general manager. "I was at two other Dot locations before moving here, and it’s immediately evident that this community is really special. We’ve been fortunate to build an incredible team here, tripling the size of our workforce since we opened our doors. We’ve accomplished a lot very quickly, and we are so grateful for our employees. They are the key to our success."
The now 263,621-square-foot Arizona distribution center is located at 2565 Landon Dr. in Bullhead City. Dot established operations in Arizona in 2018 as volume growth drove the need for more regional warehouse capacity. Dot has invested in the facility over the last five years to support the business’ continued growth, including a 70,000-square-foot warehouse expansion in 2020. The Bullhead City distribution center was the first to feature the “L-shaped” design Dot now uses on all its warehouse construction. The L-shape allows for easy expansion of offices and all warehouse temperatures.
"All of our locations are picked strategically, and our first five years in Bullhead City have been a great success for Dot,” said Matt Holt, vice president of distribution centers. "This facility and the amazing people who work here play a key role in our network across the U.S. We are excited about what the future holds and the career opportunities we're able to offer to the workforce in and around Mohave County."
Dot unveiled another addition to its Arizona facility in conjunction with the five-year anniversary celebration Friday. The Dot Foods Arizona Family Health Center will provide convenient access to high-quality, low-cost health care, less than a quarter mile from the Bullhead City distribution center. Located at 2580 Landon Dr. Unit F in Bullhead City, services at the new clinic are available to all employees and their family members covered on Dot’s health plan.
“We’re a family business,” said Mandi Clark, vice president of human resources. ”Our co-founders, Robert and Dorothy Tracy, said from the start they wanted to treat their employees like family. We work hard to make sure we offer a best-in-class benefits package and adding these on-site/near-site health care clinics for our teams is a big strategic priority. We started our first Family Health Center at our Georgia distribution center 10 years ago. We’re thrilled to be opening our eighth here in Bullhead City.”
The new Family Health Center serves approximately 400 people: employees, their spouses, and dependent children enrolled in Dot’s medical insurance. Marathon Health will operate the Family Health Center, which includes exam rooms, a lab, and office space. Employees are able to receive a wide variety of health care services, including preventative screenings, condition management, and education for high blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, and more. The Family Health Center can also serve as their primary care provider and provide annual physicals, wellness screenings, CDL certification, lab work, flu vaccines, and more. Generic prescriptions will also be offered at little or no cost to employees.
Giving back to local communities has been a longstanding mission of Dot. Since the start of operations in 2018, the Bullhead City distribution center has donated more than $400,000 to area organizations, including local food pantries, schools, and health and welfare programs. Much of the giving comes from Dot and DTI's employees, who consistently contribute to the company's annual corporate giving campaigns for the United Way and Alzheimer's Association, award grants of food and financial support to local organizations, and volunteer their time. Representatives from the local United Way chapter were on hand at Dot’s anniversary celebration to receive the $28,000 raised by employees and the company in last year’s fundraising campaign.
"Dot's co-founders, RT and Dorothy Tracy, were passionate about giving back and reinvesting in their community,” Rodriguez said. “Their spirit of giving is woven into the company's fabric and our Arizona team exemplifies that every day. They are involved with local organizations, donating their time and talents. And we’re proud to financially support many great causes and groups in the region through our charitable programs. This is our home, and we all want to make it the best it can be.”
