MT. STERLING, Ill. - Dot Foods, the nation's first and largest food redistributor, and Dot Transportation Inc. (DTI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Dot Foods, are both receiving national recognition.  Inc. Magazine has ranked Dot Foods fourth largest on the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Private Companies for 2013 based on outstanding 2012 revenues of $4.5 billion and a three-year growth rate in excess of 34 percent.  Transport Topics Magazine ranked DTI No. 29 on Transport Topics 2013 Top 100 listing of U.S. and Canadian private carriers; up from No. 37 last year.

The company's Mt. Sterling-based headquarters is one of eight Dot Foods distribution centers nationwide.  Founded in Mt. Sterling, Illinois in 1960, Robert and Dorothy Tracy started the company using a single station wagon and two rented trucks.  Today, the company relies on Dot Transportation's fleet of more than 980 trucks.

"I've watched this company grow from the ground up," says CEO John Tracy, son of Dot Foods founders' Robert and Dorothy Tracy. "I am truly proud of the success we have been able to accomplish through hard work, strong customer relationships and a company culture built on solid values and innovation."

Dot Transportation, Inc. President Paul Mugerditchian said it is exciting for Dot Foods and DTI to receive such prestigious recognitions supporting the company's culture, environment and results.  "The company creates an outstanding work environment based on trusted values and shared growth, which results in success for the company, for its employees and for its customers alike," Mugerditchian said.  The recognition Dot Foods and Dot Transportation have received are a reflection of the hard work we've all put in."

The biggest innovation Robert Tracy put in place was the company's original concept of redistribution, which was designed to enable delivery of products to distributors not large enough to regularly order the full truckloads of products as typically required by most manufacturers.  Dot Foods buys full truckloads from 600 manufacturers and consolidates their products in eight distribution centers across the country. Dot Foods then sells the products in less-than-truckload (LTL) quantities to distributors on a weekly basis. The company delivers nearly 100,000 products in LTL quantities to distributors in all 50 states.

Tracy acknowledges his employees as the company's greatest asset and reason for its success. With its high-level fleet, DTI is also able to maintain one of the lowest driver turnover rates in the industry. In turn, the company rewards its talented, dedicated workforce through market-competitive wages and a top-tier benefit package that includes health insurance, prescription drug insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) with company match, profit sharing and college tuition reimbursement.

"Every job is important, and we make every effort to hire and retain talent that fits with our culture of values, integrity and focus on the customer.  When our company receives accolades, it's because of the people who work so hard to make Dot Foods and Dot Transportation a success," added Tracy.
