Dot Foods Delaware launched its charitable work on August 17 by making a $5,000 contribution to the Route 9 Library & Innovation Center and donating 38 pallets of pasta to the Food Bank of Delaware.
Charitable giving is a key value of Dot's co-founders, Robert and Dorothy Tracy, whose passion for philanthropy wove its way into the culture at all of Dot's 12 U.S. distribution centers. Each DC and its corporate sales office reinvests in its region through monetary donations and volunteerism.
"Dot's brand promise is: Trusted Values. Innovation Solutions. Shared Growth.®" Dot Foods Delaware General Manager Joe Little said. "Innovation has been our driving force since day one, and we love supporting groups that encourage that spirit, like the Route 9 Library & Innovation Center."
Alix Jefferson, library manager, spoke during the check presentation at Dot's recent hiring event.
"Route 9 Library & Innovation Center would like to thank Dot Foods for this generous donation," said Jefferson. "As a result, we will be able to purchase equipment and supplies for Route 9 Library's Maker Lab to provide greater access and services to our patrons and the community."
In addition to Dot's donation to the innovation center, the company also contributed pallets of food to the Food Bank of Delaware. At all of its U.S. locations, Dot Foods works closely with many food banks and pantries to ensure their neighbors are able to put food on the table. The Food Bank of Delaware was a natural partner for Dot's charitable efforts, Little said.
"We are excited to welcome Dot Foods to Delaware and are so thankful that they have already embraced our mission of a community free of hunger," said Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Patricia Beebe. "Their generous donation of pasta will help us stock the shelves of families at risk of going hungry in our state."
These two donations are just the start of Dot's investment in the New Castle County area, Little said.
"You'll also see us contribute to the fight against hunger this fall with our Neighbor-to-Neighbor food donation program," he said.
