Dot Foods’ Ardmore employees recently welcomed 15 local charitable organizations to their DC to kick-off the company’s annual volunteer program, Teaming up with Local Charities (TLC). Around 40 employees attended the TLC Launch Party to learn about volunteer opportunities available through the United Way of South Central Oklahoma’s agencies, as well as the Regional Food Bank.
Along with enjoying snacks and entering for prize drawings, Dot employees walked around to the charities’ booths where representatives were on-hand to discuss their respective organization’s mission and how employees could get involved.
Ardmore’s charitable committee chose the United Way, Regional Food Bank and the Ardmore Soup Kitchen as the places employees could volunteer this year in order to meet the criteria of the TLC program. The United Way of South Central Oklahoma provided the opportunity for volunteers at more than 30 participating agencies. When an employee reaches 20 volunteer hours, he or she can elect to take eight hours off with pay or ask Dot to donate a $400 grant to a charitable organization in the employee’s honor.
“The goal of the Launch Party was to increase the visibility of the volunteer opportunities available in our community,” said Penni Wilson, Dot’s Oklahoma HR Manager. “Having our employees meet the various organizations’ representative first-hand made a strong impact, and I think we will see many employees meet, and even succeed, the TLC requirements.”
