MT. STERLING, Ill. - Dot Foods, the nation's largest food redistributor, is expanding its protein business and is proud to announce it is the first redistributor to offer fresh beef patties nationwide with a 10-14 day shelf life guarantee, through a new partnership with WW Johnson Meat Company.  Dot is also now offering smoked meats from Eddy Packing, Inc.

"Our new fresh patty program is a revolutionary step for Dot's protein business.  Our distributors will now be able to expand their own product offerings and grow their businesses now that they will have fresh patties to offer to their customers for the first time," said Rodd Willis, director of protein sales & purchasing at Dot Foods. "Both suppliers add value to our product offering and we think our customers will be pleased with the new line of products we can offer."

Dot customers can now choose from six fresh ground beef patty offerings at nationally-delivered pricing with a 10-14 day shelf life guarantee, while most fresh patty programs offer a shorter shelf life guarantee. "Delivery of the fresh ground beef patties started on June 11, 2012 and customers can order these items weekly with normal stocked-item lead times," said Willis.  Customers may qualify for samples if they wish to try the new offerings first.

"Our partnership with Dot helps us expand our reach and grow our business," said Cory Plys, director of sales at WW Johnson. "We're excited and proud that customers across the country will now be able to taste our fresh ground beef patties thanks to this new partnership with Dot Foods."

Dot's distributor customers will also have access to a premium assortment of smoked meats through Eddy Packing, including frozen turkey legs, smoked brisket, smoked sausage and fajita meat. Eddy products became available through Dot at the end of May.

"Eddy Packing is excited about this new partnership with Dot Foods and foresees this as the next and best step for our company to get our products nationwide in the fastest, most efficient manner as possible," said David Taylor, Eddy's vice president of sales.

The arrangement enables Eddy to ship products to all 50 states with the shortest amount of lead time while reducing the need for customers to hit Eddy order minimums.

"We're looking forward to our partnership with Eddy Packing," Willis said. "They offer very high-quality smoked meat items that were not previously available from Dot Foods until now.  We think their product offering will be a hit with our customer base."
