The American Red Cross Central Prairie Chapter is pleased to announce that Dot Foods has awarded a $3,000 grant to the Chapter in order to add disaster sheltering supplies in Cass, Greene, Morgan, and Scott counties. The funds from the Mt. Sterling-based company will be used to buy items such as blankets, pillows, nursing kits, and cots, adding to the overall Red Cross capability to shelter large groups of local residents in the event of a major disaster.

Dot Foods' Charitable Committee Chair, Suzanne Kassing, made the announcement. "Working with the Central Prairie Chapter is a great opportunity for Dot to help people in a very broad region in central Illinois," Kassing said. "We're happy to aid in the disaster sheltering efforts of the American Red Cross."

Since 2006, Dot has donated over $180,000 towards the American Red Cross' national and international disaster efforts.

"We are so thankful for the Dot Foods Charitable Committee's support," said Alison Yording, Executive Director, Central Prairie Chapter. "It will allow us to expand our Disaster Services program to help ensure we can meet the needs of our neighbors in the future."
