A new facility designed to give Dot Foods employees convenient access to high-quality, low-cost healthcare opened officially opened this month. The new Dot Foods Mt. Sterling Family Health Center is located at 108 W. Main Street, less than a mile from the company's corporate headquarters.
Services at the new facility are available to all employees and their family members covered by Dot's health plan. Dot anticipates around 5,000 individuals utilizing the center.
"The Dot Family Health Center is a win-win for our community," said Matt Bradbury, Mt. Sterling mayor. "The new facility is a great asset to Dot's employees, many of whom are from this immediate area. But this is great for the whole community, because it's going to bring people into our town where they'll see all the other great things we have to offer. We're blessed to have a company the size and magnitude of Dot in Mt. Sterling."
The Family Health Center is located on the first floor of a new two-story building Dot constructed. It is only the second new building constructed along Mt. Sterling's Main Street in the last 45 years; Dot's Dorothy's Market retail store, which opened in 2014, was the first.
Dot partnered with several local contractors on the Mt. Sterling Family Health Center project including Maas Construction, Brinkman Plumbing, Marold Electric, Huber/Aschemann Masonry, Peters Heating, Air, Moores Floors, Adams County Glass, and Goerlich Roofing.
Premise Health, the world's leading direct healthcare provider, operates the Family Health Center, which includes four exam rooms, a testing lab, waiting rooms, and two doctor's offices. The 4,795-square-foot facility is also home to Dot's rehabilitation center. Healthcare services available include condition management and education for diabetes, cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more. Annual physicals, wellness screenings, CDL certification, flu vaccines, lab work, rehab services, and generic prescriptions will also be offered at little or no cost to employees and their families.
"Our health and well-being is an incredibly important part of all our lives," Matt Holt, Dot's vice president of human resources, said. "Our goal with these Family Health Center facilities is to make sure the people on our health plan can access high-quality, personalized, affordable healthcare services."
The Dot Foods Mt. Sterling Family Health Center is open five days a week and offers early morning and late afternoon hours to accommodate Dot employees' varying schedules.
"2020 marks our company's 60th anniversary," said Holt. "When RT and Dorothy started the company, the benefits they provided their employees were something they were really passionate about. As we celebrate our major milestone this year, it feels very fitting that we're opening the Mt. Sterling Family Health Center and taking our health benefits to the next level."
This facility is the fifth on/near-site health center Dot has opened. Dot debuted the concept at its Georgia distribution center in 2013 and has since added Family Health Centers at the company's Idaho, Indiana, and Oklahoma locations. The company plans to establish similar clinics at all its U.S. locations by 2025.
