MT. STERLING, Ill. - In response to industry growth and volume needs, Dot Foods has broken ground on its seventh expansion of its warehouse facilities at its corporate headquarters. A brand new, 110,000-square-foot cooler warehouse addition broke ground on June 10 with an anticipated completion date of April 1, 2014. Dot's corporate headquarters is now home to over 1.41 million square feet of warehouse space.

When completed, the warehouse will provide Dot with increased dry and cooler warehouse capacity to add around 50 new jobs in the local Mt. Sterling, Ill. community.

"This expansion brings a number of great advantages," said Dot Foods Senior Vice President Jim Tracy. "First, it frees up a great deal of space in our dry and cooler warehouses to allow us to continue to grow and hire. It will also provide a brand new, employee friendly break room for our frozen and cooler employees."

The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) worked with Dot Foods to expand in Illinois and bring the 50 new jobs to Mt. Sterling.  Dot Foods will be eligible for state tax credits based on the jobs created.

"Governor Quinn has made it a priority to invest in Illinois and build on our state's top-tier logistics and warehousing sector," said DCEO Director Adam Pollet. "We are pleased that we were able to work with Dot Foods to expand its Mt. Sterling facility and deepen its business commitment to Illinois."

With the additional warehouse space, Dot will be better equipped to bring on additional manufacturers, which will create more volume and more local jobs.

"We've been actively recruiting for our warehouses right now," said Christina Crandall, warehouse recruiting manager. "With this expansion, we're anticipating even more growth and opportunities for job seekers."

The Stellar Group, Inc., based out of Jacksonville, Fla., managed the construction project which included a lounge break room featuring games for employee break times, as well as a locker room and offices. The new cooler is located on the north side of Dot's frozen warehouse, which completed its own 148,000-square-foot expansion in August 2012.
