Dot Foods, the nation's largest food redistributor, is hosting its 7th Annual Forklift Rodeo to thank its employees and to show off its best wranglers! As a way to show their appreciation for their employees' commitment to quality and safety, Dot Foods invited their employees at Liverpool to test their warehouse skills in three categories: the Narrow Aisle, the Sitdown Lift Truck and the Mule (otherwise known as the Electric Pallet Jack). Contestants had to maneuver their equipment carrying a stack of pallets through a two-loop obstacle course.
Joe Tebo took the top local prize in Narrow Aisle, Cody Merle took the top spot in Sitdown Lift Truck, and Ron Visconti is the new champion on the Mule. The winners are now off to Dot Foods' national headquarters in Mt. Sterling, Illinois, to compete against the winners of Dot Foods' other seven distribution centers in the national showdown!
"It's a way to motivate employees and appreciate them for all the hard work that they do. They have a hard job, and they prove their skill and commitment to safety every day on this equipment. So this is a chance for them to win a great prize for showing off the skills they use to keep themselves and their co-workers safe," said Howard Bryerton, Dot Foods Liverpool Warehouse Manager.
Each year, winners from Liverpool who show the most skill in these three categories compete against approximately 30 winners from all eight Dot Foods distribution centers for the national title, promoting continued friendly competition and high levels of excellence within the warehouse. The three national winners will enjoy their choice of one of seven all-expense paid vacations: Las Vegas; Nassau, Bahamas; Clearwater Beach, FL; Universal Studios in Orlando, FL; New Orleans; Cozumel, Mexico; or a Carnival Cruise. Each vacation is valued at about $2,000, and second and third place national winners receive trophies and assorted prizes. The three distribution centers with the best overall performance win the right to spend the night of the following year's National Championship Rodeo at Mt. Sterling's luxurious yet rustic Twin Hollows Lodge.
Following the event, all participants will relax and enjoy an evening of dinner, fishing, and trap shooting at Twin Hollows Lodge.
