Our CommitmentAt Dot Foods, we’re proud of our role in the communities where we operate, and understand the importance of our social responsibilities. It’s consistent with our values, it’s good for business, and it’s the right thing to do. |
R.T. would turn off lights around the house and adjust thermostats. Dorothy is fondly known within the Tracy family for her habit of recycling tin foil—and even birthday cards.

Stewardship,

In addition to recycling more than a million pounds of cardboard, stretch wrap and paper products across our company, Dot Foods now recycles broken pallets, which are converted into mulch or wood pellets for heating.
Fuel is essential to our business, and finding new ways to reduce consumption and lower emissions is a priority for Dot Transportation. In addition to equipping our trucks with cab heaters to reduce idle time, Dot uses bio-diesel fuel whenever possible. What’s more, we pay our drivers three cents per mile for adhering to a fuel-efficient speed of 60 miles per hour.
The use of refrigeration control systems and advanced technology such as variable frequency drive systems help us maximize efficiency. Motion sensors in our offices have curbed energy consumption by 25%, and light dimmers in our warehouses have cut it by 35%.
In addition to offering electronic transactions for all customer and vendor communication, Dot is scaling back on the number of hard copies we print.
Dot’s conservation efforts also help our supplier partners operate more sustainably as well. With their LTL trucks off the road, there are fewer trucks burning fuel. And by sourcing products from their plant and bypassing their distribution centers, we can help them reduce their carbon footprint from both a warehouse and transportation standpoint.
For us, success is when sustainability is no longer an initiative, but the way we approach our work every day.

That's one reason why Dot is such an enthusiastic supporter of local schools, United Way and other charitable organizations, and civic initiatives in and around our various locations.
Dot's Teaming with Local Charities (TLC) program encourages employees to volunteer with selected partner agencies to help them fulfill their missions. In Illinois, Dot employees work with Big Brothers Big Sisters, local food pantries, the local school district's academic volunteer program, and Habitat for Humanity. TLC programs at Dot's other locations may differ depending on community needs and employee suggestions. Through the TLC program, employees who volunteer can request grants to their favorite charities or earn paid time off.

Steadfast in our commitment to giving back, Dot Foods also maintains two grant programs. |
Having been blessed with many gifts and inspired by the values set forth by Robert F. Tracy and Dorothy Curtin Tracy, the multiple generations of the Tracy Family created the foundation as a means to share their good fortune and proactively impact the world, beginning with Brown County in Illinois and the west central Illinois region.
The foundation strives to promote the values of honesty, integrity, fairness, a Catholic/Christian belief and a strong work ethic. The primary focus is on charitable institutions that focus on education, youth and strengthening the family unit. It is also the Tracy Family Foundation’s desire to encourage the growth of a grateful spirit within all Tracy generations present and future.

Dot Foods is committed to its communities, and supports them through its Charitable Giving Program. A committee of employees at each facility reviews applications and awards grants for charitable endeavors. Not-for-profit agencies or organizations may apply for causes that are community development, secondary education and health & wellness.
To receive a grant from Dot’s headquarters, the organization must be located within a 60-mile radius of Mt. Sterling, IL, and within the counties of Brown, Adams, Cass, Fulton, Hancock, McDonough, Morgan, Pike and Schuyler.
If you would like to apply for a grant to support your charitable project or event, please follow these guidelines:
