This National Volunteer Month, we thank the employees across our locations who donate their time to care for our communities.
Dot Foods’ hands-on approach to supporting our communities goes all the way back to our founders. Co-founder Dorothy Tracy served on the Brown County School Board and played a key role in the establishment of the Mt. Sterling Community Center YMCA.
Employees have carried on her legacy through our Teaming with Local Charities (TLC) program. For every 20 hours of volunteering, employees at participating locations can receive eight hours of paid time off (PTO) or donate $400 to an approved non-profit of their choice. In 2023, our employees logged an impressive 3,700 hours for TLC.
Next month, we’ll celebrate our volunteers even more at our second annual Giving Festival at Dot Foods Mt. Sterling, where we’ll name our Volunteer of the Year. Until then, let’s look back at some of our charitable activities from this past month.
Dot Foods Liverpool made several donations this month, including $5,000 to the Museum of Science & Technology for science programs with local school districts and another $5,000 to the Feed Our Vets food pantry.
Dot Foods Modesto presented $10,000 to Sierra Vista Child & Family Services to help provide nutrition, health services, and other support to families and children in need.
The Modesto distribution center also supported athletics this month with a $5,000 donation to the Arrowhead Club for sports equipment needed across local schools and recreation centers. Additionally, they chipped in $2,000 for football equipment at a local high school.
Dot Foods Bear donated $2,000 to Exceptional Care for Children, Delaware’s first and only pediatric nursing facility.
Dot Foods St. Louis hosted dinner for about 40 guests of the American Cancer Society’s Hope Lodge, which provides free lodging for cancer patients and their caregivers while undergoing cancer treatment.
The Liverpool distribution center also sponsored Food Bank of Central New York’s Savor Syracuse event, which raised more than $95,000 for the organization.
